How I met my wife

Every great romance has an origin story, right? So many of you have asked about ours, so I thought I’d share it here today. You’ve seen me crack her back before, but now, it’s your chance to learn about how I met my beautiful wife, my inspiration, Leana. The story is definitely unconventional, so buckle up!

It first goes back to before I was cracking backs on YouTube, while I was still working on my doctorate degree, living in Marietta, GA, attending school at Life University, just before my graduation. In the meantime, Leana was a server, jumping from one restaurant to the next, working at The Cheesecake Factory, and one of her co-workers, believe it or not, was my chiropractic colleague (and mutual friend), Dr. Alex Tubio (who has his own fantastic YouTube channel, too). He too was in school, and doing personal training on the side. Luckily for me, Dr. Alex soon became Leana’s personal trainer, and extra lucky for me, Leana was looking for a nice guy with a nice beard.

Well, with ZZ Top off the market for some time, Dr. Alex thought it would be a good idea to introduce Leana to me through social media! Admittedly, I was a bit of a flake, and didn’t message her for two weeks – beautiful women can be intimidating! – but then we got to talking, and FaceTiming all through October and November 2017, and it was like magic. This carried on for some time, and we hadn’t even met each other in person yet. I was busy graduating, and accepting my first major chiropractic position out in Texas, and life was just hectic.

Fast forward to December 2017, when I was flying home to Michigan to visit my family for the holidays. Well, I arranged a very special layover in Atlanta to meet Leana in person for a whole nervous, awkward hour! Mind you, I did manage to sneak in our first kiss, so I guess you could say it was a productive first date. Just a few days later, she invited me to spend New Year’s Eve with her and her cousins in Greenville, SC. It didn’t take much convincing – I was there in a heartbeat. We spent only a few days together, but it quickly became obvious: We were meant for each other. When you know, you know. So, what did we do next? We moved in together in Texas, and two weeks later, we got married! Shortest. Courting. Period. EVER. It was just a brief court ceremony, but still, it was official. (Seven months later was the real wedding, which you can actually watch online here.)

Anyway, with my career just starting, times were definitely tough in the very beginning (a story for another time, perhaps), but we made it work. And now, just a few years later, we have two beautiful children, and a chiropractic practice that I couldn’t be more proud of. Leana, I couldn’t have done this without you! From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for coming to meet me at the airport that day during my layover. Who knows where I’d be today if you had accidentally overslept, hahaha.
